Peter reached out to me to book a family session as a Mothers Day gift to Sophie. A simple morning at home in their little backyard oasis in Portland Maine. We had a slow morning together making photographs for the family album - timeless photos that document this current season of their lives.

For Peter and Sophie, this meant a little stroll around their backyard garden & portraits on the front steps. We made our way through the yard, letting the little one lead. I prompted them to stand in certain areas, but otherwise, I allowed them to all be themselves for our session.

The front porch sees so much of home lives. Coming home on late nights, sipping tea in the first warm days of spring, running out the door to see family and friends. As a threshold to your home, the front porch is my favorite place for family photographs. You can all pile onto the steps, lounge out on the porch, stand by the front door. We can keep it simple - but ultimately, that door you walk in and out of thousands of time over the course of your life should be memorialized in photograph form.
