Maine wedding film photographer
Documentary wedding photography | Based in Maine & available to travel nationwide
My approach to photography is to draw out the magic in the life you are living - photographing intimate moments of connection and joy. I take a documentary approach, so as not to interfere with the natural flow of the day and the time with your people. I want you to have photographs for your family album that show not just the big celebratory moments, but also the small, quieter ones.
I am happiest with several film cameras in hand. To me, film is the medium that best captures the way a moment feels. I offer both full film & hybrid (film and digital) packages. I’m here for the messy, imperfect, and honest memories.
Couples spend an average of $6,500 on their wedding, see bottom of the page for more package details.

"Alyssa made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera and repeatedly reminded us that this is our moment, and it should reflect us"
— Katie & Kyle

"From day one of contacting Alyssa, it was evident that she was extraordinarily empathetic and caring. She immediately wanted to get to know about us and understand our story so she could capture the emotion and beauty of our wedding. Our wedding day simply would not have been as amazing as it was without the help of Alyssa. She was kind, helpful, and most importantly, had a clear artistic vision which allowed my wife and I to enjoy the majority of our time with our best friends and loved ones without fear of missing out on capturing some beautiful photos"
— Alex & Kasey

"Alyssa photographed a friend’s wedding that I officiated. She came prepared with more cameras than I have ever seen someone hold. She has such an eye for authenticity and candor in each moment. When the gallery came back, I was blown away by how magnificently she captured the whimsy, fun, and beauty of the event, the energy, and the people. Truly. She captured the essence of the moment as we experienced them. If you are even considering reaching out to her, do it!!!!!”

FAQ
-
Full film coverage means the wedding is photographed by me entirely on analog film (35mm, medium format, and polaroid). Hybrid coverage means that the wedding is photographed on a mix of analog film and digital. Both coverage options include a physical photo album and link to online high-res gallery. Full film coverage averages about $1,000 more than the equivalent hybrid package.
Some reasons you may want full film coverage:
You cherish your parents and grandparents wedding photographs
You value quality over quantity
You want photographs that feel like your wedding day felt
You are a film lover yourself and fan of all things analog
We can chat more about what type of coverage fits you and your wedding plans best on our call :)

Film is my medium of choice. It enables me to create the photographs I want, and I enjoy not only the end result but also the process. It allows me to be in the moment, noticing, and slowing down to take intentional photographs that document how the day feels. For me, film has a way of photographing light that cannot be replicated with digital. The colors, tones, light, etc. are all unique to film. While I edit my digital photos to match film as closely as possible, there is an indescribable magic about the film photographs.
-
I am a film first wedding photographer, this means I will use my film cameras throughout the day and prioritize film when I am able. This means I shoot up to 60% on film - your wedding gallery can however range in ratio of film to digital.
If you are interested in a wedding fully documented on film, please let me know and we can chat to see if this may be a good fit for your plans.

All of my packages come with the gift of quality in-person time together. It’s more about getting to know each other before the wedding, the photos are just an added bonus!
These pre-wedding sessions are an opportunity to invite me into your everyday world. In doing so, we can create photographs of the little things you will want to look back on years from now - your decorated bookshelves in your apartment, your pets, the streets you walk around your neighborhood everyday, your favorite cafe.
This is not a typical engagement session (no boring matching white tee engagement photos here!); rather, a celebration of your everyday life.
These sessions typically last anywhere from 90 minutes to several hours. Ideally they include a meal together - whether that’s at your favorite diner or cooking dinner together at home. We will chat over good food, maybe go for a walk together, and build comfort and trust before your wedding day.
Travel is included anywhere within 100 miles of Bath, Maine. If you would like your session to be at a location outside of this radius, there may be a travel fee.

I treat pre-wedding sessions as a chance to meet in-person, learn more about who you are as individuals and a partnership. It’s an opportunity for you to get a bit more comfortable in front of a the camera. To me, these are all about building trust so the first time we meet is not on your wedding day. Plus, you get cool photos from our time together!
If you live outside of Maine, we can make travel arrangements for the session. Otherwise, some couples will time their engagement sessions with a venue tour on travel if you live outside of Maine but are getting married here.
If it is just not feasible geographically, I totally get it and that is ok! I’ll try to meet up with you in the days leading up to your wedding, even if it’s to just grab a tea or check out the venue together. I find these meetings put us all at ease and make the wedding day run extra smoothly!
Pre-wedding sessions are complimentary, in other words, use it or lose it. I cannot provide a discount or coverage elsewhere if you choose not to use the session.

I am all about balancing a documentary approach with getting those portraits of you both and close family & friends. However, weddings are not a photoshoot. They should be about spending time with your people, and any time spent taking photographs is time that could be spent enjoying the day you planned.
I like to have two 10 minute portrait sessions for you throughout the day - perhaps before/after the ceremony, and later in the evening when you want to step away together and share a moment.
Family/friend portraits can happen in a short span of time before or after the ceremony so you can all get back to enjoying your day together! My directing is very minimal - I want to take photographs that represent who you truly are, not some posed version of yourself. I will give some prompting, but in general I am there to photograph the authentic connections and emotions you are feeling together on your wedding day.
I also recommend couples allow plenty of time in their day, so they can slow down and enjoy. When there is a tight schedule, those candid moments don’t have time to unfold naturally.
-
While I typically photograph weddings alone, if you have a particularly large, complex wedding with lots of details I am more than happy to bring along a second shooter. This is most helpful in situations when you would like getting ready photos of both of you and have lots of details you want documented. We can discuss the fee for a second shooter when we chat.
For full film wedding packages, I also highly recommend a second photographer. We can chat more about what best serves your needs!

If we are a great fit, I will travel anywhere for you day! See package info above to see which states are included without a travel fee.

The first time you see your photographs, I want it to be on print - in a small complimentary album delivered to you. I want you to take time together to relive those memories. So each package includes a free mini album that you will receive first. I will then immediately give you an online link you can view the full gallery - share, download, print, etc!
-
When you inquire via the website, I will be in touch ASAP to schedule a short Zoom call with you both. We will chat about the vision for your day, and you can ask me any questions you have! If you decide to move forward, I require a 30% retainer to secure the date. The remaining balance is due one week before the wedding date.
If you’re a couple looking for photographs that document your day - as you are - I would love to hear from you!
